Support for arbitrary speaker layouts

The documentation here mentions only a very specific and narrow set of supported speaker configurations:

Is there a way to set-up the renderer with custom immersive loudspeaker configurations?

For instance at the SAT there's a full-dome setup (works fine with VBAP) + an immersive square black box for which we mainly use SpatGRIS's MBAP (https://gris.musique.umontreal.ca/). DBAP is also an option.

If it's not the case, would you be interested in a PR to add support for a renderer for custom configurations?

You need to modify the code, I think.

Of course, this is welcome.
Be careful that the internal HOA renderer is a Regular Dodecahedron, (see the technical report for the reasoning)

So the reason for the limited support is because it would mean adding code to generate the hulls used in the VBAP algorithm. The lib uses the ADM formulation of this so the code would have to lead to equivalent groupings as defined for ADM. That's a little more complex than the usual triangulation used for VBAP/MBAP/DBAP because it expects quads and polygons. But it's definitely possible!

It would absolutely be great to have this added so it supports totally generic layouts. The faster (but less fun!) option would be add a new loudspeaker layout and add your own hull here: https://github.com/videolabs/libspatialaudio/blob/master/source/LoudspeakerLayoutHulls.h
