Dear Igor and Armbian friends,
the base-files do not build for 26.2.1 with target Debian Trixie on armhf silicon.

might be an issue in:

But I cannot spot it myself, my technical knowledge in builds is limited.

this doesn't probably help you... but I was able to make it build locally by:
time nice -n 19 ./compile.sh build BOARD=odroidxu4 BRANCH=current BUILD_DESKTOP=no BUILD_MINIMAL=yes RELEASE=trixie KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no KERNEL_GIT=full MANAGE_ACNG='http://squid.tabris.net:3142/' COMPRESS_OUTPUTIMAGE=xz DEB_COMPRESS=xz EXPERT=yes REVISION=26.2.1 ARTIFACT_IGNORE_CACHE=yes

Thanks for testing that it can be fixed. If I had more RAM on my devices I'd git clone and try, but here exists no strong build server and neither one to connect to for MANAGE_ACNG . My homelab is weak SoCs where I build small web, voip and netshare daemonized servers on.

MANAGE_ACNG isn't required, it's just a cache. and fwiw there is also a cache in the Armbian build system, cache/aptcache. But I have an apt-cacher too which makes it easier for me to wipe the armbian cache occasionally w/o downloading all those apt pkgs again.

The fact that the official images have it:

Supports that as @tabrisnet confirmed it builds. Now building it myself (every update) or always re-installing from a clean image (every update) is not a solution I'd ever endeavour. I'd simply like it to be available via apt. So the issue lies in the deb installer packages not building in the updater infrastructure.

Everything we do here is ultimately for all of us.

I’m aware of the problem, and I would genuinely like to promptly fix every problem that appears. But the reality is that this simply isn’t possible for one person, or even a small group of volunteers. Open source is not magic — it only works when the effort is shared.

If you are able to help directly, that is always the best path. If not, then helping to support the people who can contribute — financially or otherwise — is equally valuable. And sometimes contribution simply means helping where you can: testing, documenting, answering questions, or solving smaller problems around the edges.

I will fix this issue once. Just not today. There are more urgent problems ahead of it, and there is a constant flow of them. In a project like this, triage is unavoidable — something always has to wait. The more people helps, the faster bugs are resolved.

That’s not an excuse. It’s just the slightly sad, sometimes frustrating reality of maintaining things that many people rely on, but only a few have the time and resources to sustain.

I am traveling tomorrow and for at least a week I won't be able to do anything unless top urgent. And few weeks after. Issue is valid, confirmed, now waiting ...

Thank you Igor, please let my dear two Odroid HC2 live a few years longer. I have donated you 10€ for electricity, coffee or anything else that helps you! It's all, being a student with low income, that I can currently spare.

You are right to ask for donations and I agree with your point of view. My stance on this is that people who have more money than us both should donate even more. Especially the industry that uses SoCs in digital signage. Many boards just play advertisements on large screens in metro tunnels. Those should not be using FLOSS projects at zero cost. But what can we do?
