Bad URL requests not being properly validated

Steps to reproduce it:

• Navigate to http://localhost:9000/projectDetail/<invalid_character>
• Invalid characters:
• Single dot '.'
• White space ' '
• Hash '#'
• Exclamation char '!'
• Question char '?'

Expected Behaviour:

• Let the user know, with an appropriate error message (404), the errors of the invalid ID.

Actual Behaviour:

• projectDetail page does not load correctly.
