shouldn't the version number have been increased in the commit where you added the charge field?

you are right, since this commit changes the field content of Trackcontainer, the version number should be updated. I have to admit that I did not switch the CbmRoot to a newer version of the AnalysisTree, that's why did not care about compatibility of file versions.

For my curiosity: do you plan to build the CbmRoot with the newest AnalysisTree version? Or did you try to analyze old AT files with the newest AT package version?

I currently trying to develop a (dielectron) pair analysis framework based on AnalysisTree. For this I installed the newest version of AT but then tested it with data from a recent common production which was (probably) based on the AT version in cbmroot. Thus I ran into this issue

Thanks for pointing on the problem! I addressed it by updating the ClassDef version of Track and Particle and ported it into the v2.4.2 tag (which is a clone of v2.4.1).
Also this problem will be fixed in the master branch before creating a new tag.

P.S. If you will be interested in compiling the CbmRoot with modern AnalysisTree, this commit may help you (according to my test no significant changes are needed).
