Please consider enhancing pkgbasify to use the script that's available after pkg bootstrap.
I posted to the pkg repo a few hours ago, whilst the idea was fresh in my mind (I had forgotten the existence of the script):
I did not check the content of the script, to tell whether a run is appropriate if the database is already busy.

A few months ago I looked into this. I didn't keep notes (sorry), if I recall correctly:
- the plug-in was unusable with modern pkg (no surprise)
- forks did not lead to anything usable.
